Windows 8 RTM: Fully baked, Windows 8, celebrated with a cake!

That rhymes, doesnt’ it? :D Windows 8, the latest customer OS from Microsoft has been fully baked. Yes, it’s Released To Manufacturing! It’s set to hit the shelves on October 26, later this year. Microsoft released pre-release versions of the OS, namely, the Developer Preview, Consumer Preview and the Release Preview. However, you won’t have to wait till October. The Windows 8 RTM has leaked to the web! The download links can be found at the bottom of the post. ;)

Too bad Microsoft couldn’t stick with the Build number 8888 for the final OS. It’s 9200 now. However, recently, on August 8 (yes, that’s 8/8), Microsoft held a party.. Yay! I love parties.. :D

What’s that? Any guesses? Well, that’s not a bunch of Surface tablets lying on a table, but a table of a fully baked cake! (Notice how I play with words :D )

It’s not the first time Microsoft has done something with their staff to celebrate the release of the newest version of Windows. They toppled 7000 dominoes in their Hyderabad centre in India, to show that Windows 7 Beta Build 7000, loads faster than 7000 dominoes.

Is anyone else a little peckish for cake, now? :P

Meanwhile, Ballmer, as usual is over excited. Look at this happy face!

As for Windows 8 RTM (Final Version), there’s a lot changed. Just forget those previews. Download and Install Windows 8 today! The RTM has dramatically improved the entire User Interface. The taskbar has now been made transparent, it no longer has the blur.

The window has all the unnecessary transparency removed. They look much more crisp, neat, and modern. The windows now drop a much more subtle shadow. And, there are better and more fluid animations.

In 1995, Windows changed the PC. Now Windows 8 reimagines the OS, from chip to UX, and “Windows Explorer” added in Windows 95, has now been renamed to File Explorer.

The infamous Desktop Gadgets, introduced as a part of Windows Vista (which was supposed to be high on security), were themselves a flaw in security. They have also now been removed.

Windows 8 RTM also adds a couple of many new Start Screen backgrounds. They’re here:

Let’s see one of these backgrounds in action. Looks like Bronyism inspired Microsoft.

The Windows Store, which was once almost empty, now has 1000+ apps, and every day, new ones are appearing! The non-Metro tiles on Start Screen now have bigger icons, giving a better look.

There are numerous other improvements to everything, from the Start Screen to the desktop. To try Windows 8 now, download an ISO file from below, burn it to an optical disc (or mount it) and then either run setup.exe, or boot from it. ;)

So windows Pro is the highest SKU? :O
hmmm…will download it sooner. I wish to try how RTM works out! Hope it wont disappoint me like the Developer preview and Consumer Preview versions.

Windows 8 Pro is the highest SKU. However, it can be argued that Enterprise is. Enterprise has some more IT sector oriented features, which are hardly required by home users. That way, it is the “Ultimate” SKU. However, home users might want Windows Media Center (not Player), which isn’t there in Enterprise, so..
Yep, it won’t. The most amazing part about Windows 8 is the installation process (setup.exe not booted from disc). The OOBE (Out Of Box Experience) too is great. I hope you like it. ;)
